ABSTRACT

In this chapter the reader will gain an understanding of:

how a genuine multi-agency partnership was formed prior to the preparation of the Single Regeneration Budget (SRB) bid

the commitment of the Health Authority and Health Care Trust to a community health development approach

the existence of a residents’ group that took a strong lead in setting a non-medical agenda to the health needs assessment

the community-centred paradigm followed by M.E.L. Research who were commissioned to carry out the assessment

the wide-ranging health, social and quality of life services that emerged as elements of the proposed Healthy Living Arcade.
