ABSTRACT

The implications of personal, social and political meanings attached to gender have ramifications for who you are and how you live. They also have profound implications for how you conduct the specific business of working therapeutically with others. We have constructed a range of exercises that we hope will help you to experientially answer the questions central to this chapter. Before you move on it is important to ensure that we are using words consistently. Below are some terms separated from their definition. As an introductory task, place one of the following words by the definition that seems most appropriate: sexuality, androgyny, sexual abuse, sex, masculine, feminine, transsexual, gender.
