ABSTRACT

Questioning your unhealthy, irrational beliefs and your healthy, rational beliefs is a very important part of REBT. So in this chapter I am going to show you how you can question both your unhealthy beliefs (demands, awfulizing beliefs, low frustration tolerance (LFT) beliefs and depreciation beliefs) and your healthy beliefs (full preferences, anti-awfulizing beliefs, high frustration tolerance (HFT) beliefs and acceptance beliefs). By this point in this workbook, you should (ideally) have grasped what both sets of beliefs are, but if you would like to refresh your memory on this point, let me suggest that you re-read pp. 5-10 in Chapter 1. The purpose of this chapter is to help you to understand why your unhealthy beliefs are unhealthy and why your healthy beliefs are healthy. To do this you need to ask yourself three questions when questioning both sets of beliefs:

1 is it true/false? 2 is it logical/illogical? 3 is it helpful/unhelpful?
