ABSTRACT
Aldo Rossi suggested (1966) that the fabric of a city consists of two things; the general urban texture of buildings lining streets and squares which, of course, will change over time, and the monuments, large-scale buildings whose very presence gives each city its particular character, embody, as Rossi says, the memory of the city.
