ABSTRACT
The houses in Walters Way, in south London, were all built by their occupants using the ‘Segal’ method. This comprehensive approach to building was developed by the architect Walter Segal when he wanted to construct a temporary home for himself and his family in 1962. It allows unskilled people to make their own homes using simple materials and techniques. The method is also suitable for different types of building, including schools and offices.
