ABSTRACT
Although settlement forms themselves are usually relatively simple to identify and describe, the forces shaping those forms are many and varied and they are interlinked in complex ways. Different processes can sometimes result in similar forms on the ground. Understanding and untangling this complexity demands a keen attention to detail.
