ABSTRACT

Computer-Aided Design is an application of the rapidly growing field of computer graphics. The starting point of modern interactive graphics can be traced back to 1963, to Ivan Sutherland’s work on the Sketchpad drawing system (Sutherland 1963). CAD is defined as being that application of computer graphics which is used to design components and systems of mechanical, electrical, electro mechanical, and electronic devices, including structures such as buildings, automobile bodies, aeroplane and ship hulls, very large-scale-integrated (VLSI) chips, optical systems, and telephone and computer networks (Foley 1993).
