ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a summary and discussion of the findings of this study. The understanding that has been attained of the nature of the climates of competition is summarised in the first part of the chapter. The nature of the climates of competition can contribute to an understanding of the dynamics generated through competition, and this is discussed in the second part of the chapter. The two subpurposes of this book have therefore been fulfilled, as has the main purpose, which is to analyse the process of competition in industries where the actors have considerable geographical proximity to each other, in order to increase understanding for the nature and dynamics of competition. The book has answered a number of questions, has illustrated others, and has also provided a number of new areas for research within the framework for this research area. The chapter will therefore finish with a discussion of the practical implications of the book and a discussion of the necessity for continued research.
