ABSTRACT

This chapter consider the ethical implications of the dialogical relations advocated by Martin Buber. He was very much aware that I-Thou and It-It relations have implications for morality, that is, for a human being’s ethical relationship with other human beings, with Nature, and with God. In this chapter we focus on this fundamental issue chiefl y within the framework of human relations, in accordance with the basic aim of the book. We consider the implications of Buber’s philosophy for morality and for human relations with nature and with God elsewhere. Here we consider in detail the ethical implications of Buber’s typology for human relationships.
