Thomas Beard (d. 1632) had the distinction of being Oliver Cromwell's schoolmaster at Huntingdon. ‘The Theatre of Gods Iudgements’ was his first book of many, including a proof that the Pope is Antichrist (1625), like all his work utterly unoriginal.
