Freedom of religion and belief through religious education

For religious educators in the UK and the children they teach, freedom to practise a religion of their choice is a given. The right to hold no religious beliefs is also seen as a basic right of the citizen. This chapter examines some of the background to the right of religious freedom and belief, suggesting some ways in which it might be incorporated into religious education.
