ABSTRACT

There is no shortage of guidance on writing and the writing process. This chapter selectively considers some of that guidance and attempts to distil the main points. The interview responses in Chapter 3 show that all writers are different. So there can be no set of handy hints or infallible guidelines which apply to all writers; different people will extract, from the wide range of guidance, the suggestions and claims that may work for them. The main message of the chapter is this: there is no one right way to write.
