Saving lives – Involving citizens in the chain of survival: The critical role of placement

Cardiac arrests are the main cause of death not only in Portugal but also in the world (Nolan et al . 2010). The majority of those deaths occur outside hospitals and 60-80 per cent of them happen at home. Survival decreases by 7-10 per cent for every minute of delayed intervention (Fullerton 2011).
