ABSTRACT
Whilst an understanding of musical scales, melodies and harmonies is understandably signifi cant for anyone aiming to produce music, a much more substantial concept for the electronic dance music producer is that of rhythm. Indeed, it’s the manipulation of rhythm that creates the very essence of all electronic dance music but this is a concept that is far more complex than it may initially appear.
