ABSTRACT
The most fundamental element in the creation of electronic dance music lies with the production and sonic design of the bass/kick drum. This along with the surrounding percussive instrumentation forms the ubiquitous four to the fl oor drum loop of almost all-electronic dance music. Typically one or four bars in length, the EDM drum loop not only provides the grounding element to the music, but also the underlying timing and rhythm that the potential listeners will dance too.
