ABSTRACT
Ambient music has been enjoyed a long, if somewhat diverse history, and its subsequent offshoots have formed an important role in dance music since 1989. However, it re-established itself to many as part of the electronic dance music scene when beats were again dropped over atmospheric content, and it became relabelled as ‘Chill Out’ by record companies and the media.
