ABSTRACT

B efore commencing a detailed study of the elements of organization let us discuss more fully the problem of bridging the gap that exists between those two principal areas of responsibility which are the concern of every manager. In colloquial terms these are the area of ‘things’ and the area of people. A young manager soon finds that each ‘area’ has its own special problems, possibilities and even philosophies. Even today there are many people who, as in Berlin, are building a wall to separate the two areas. Too few are concerned with building a bridge to bring them together.
