ABSTRACT

In Sweden, cultural policy has mainly been built on the national cultural policy objectives and has been separated from other political areas. In Kronoberg County, southern Småland in Sweden, the politicians felt that art and culture should be seen as a part of regional development as a whole. They also wanted to establish a broader concept of culture than the traditional view of culture as art. The questions the politicians posed were: how do we support culture in the right way and in the right place? Where are the known and unknown cultural resources?
