ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts of the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. It is the opportunity to bring together key themes and issues, both in terms of content and methodologies, which has been addressed in the preceding contributions. Alternatively and, perhaps, concurrently, it can act as a springboard for the future analysis of event volunteering, plugging identified gaps and also responding to the changing environmental context within which events and their volunteer teams are located. The chapter therefore, will concurrently address these three challenges from a research perspective aiming, in doing so, to develop practical guidelines for future research in the event volunteering area. Event volunteering is located within a complex social, economic, political, cultural and technological environment and it is essential that these dimensions are understood as key framers of the events themselves and the roles which volunteers play within them.
