ABSTRACT

This chapter explores some of the issues involved in the use of educational technology with children who have a range of multiple disabilities and visual impairment (MDVI). (For a review of educational technology for learners without additional/multiple disabilities, see Chapter 20.) The term ‘educational technology’ can refer to a wide range of equipment, from microcomputers and multi-sensory rooms to closed circuit televisions and communication aids. However rather than describing in detail what every form of educational technology can provide (an endless task with quickly outdated results), this chapter will instead consider some of the processes that determine the successful use of technology with this group of children.
