ABSTRACT

The field of personnel management is rather broad, and normally includes planning, recruitment and selection of employees; ‘reward’ systems; performance appraisal and so on. In particular, training and development of ‘human resources’ during the 1980s and 1990s has become one of the central topics in the field of personnel management. Internal or external experts have been engaged to discover the gap between the qualification demands of the organisation and the actual performance of individuals. Accordingly, training strategies have become important tools for reducing or closing this gap in order to provide the organisation with appropriate people who can help the organisation achieve its output goals.
