ABSTRACT
Peter Drucker coined the term ‘knowledge society’ in 1959 and it is now part of the language. In this respect, schools have been part of the knowledge society for some time, but it is only at the dawn of the third millennium that there is broad recognition that the kinds of schools that will best meet the needs of the knowledge society might be very different to those that have proved successful for much of the last century.
