ABSTRACT
From a historical and cultural perspective, the Central European countries in transition may be considered to comprise Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia. The former East Germany also belongs to this group of countries in spite of the fact that it is no longer an independent country but nowadays the constituent part of a united Germany.
