General functions and technology
Authoring for CD-ROMs, CD-Is, etc. cannot be done unless an author considers the possibilities and constraints of the technology and content design together. Similarly, music and voice technology and application are so closely related that they merge into each other. In these cases it is unhelpful to attempt to relieve the user of the need to understand the technology by confining it to this chapter. Technical aspects and general functions that may be considered in isolation from applications are discussed here.
