Table 2.4 compares paid employment in each sector in 1995, 1998 and 2000. The accompanying figure (Figure 2.6) illustrates the absolute and proportionate rates of change in the three primary sectors over the 5-year period. Clearly, the most quantitatively significant developments in terms of volume of jobs from an economy-wide perspective have taken place outside the voluntary sector.
