ABSTRACT
Contemporary lesbian US writer whose work includes poetry, fiction, and essays. Among her many publications are: After Touch (1975); the volume of poetry Waking at the Bottom of the Dark (1979); Mother, Sister, Daughter, Lover (1980); a collection of stories, Duration (1983); Sinking, Stealing (1985), a novel about a lesbian on the run with her dead partner’s female child; Illustrated by None: The Prosperine Papers (1988); Books and Life (1989); Beyond Gay or Straight: Understanding Sexual Orientation (1996); and Apples and Oranges: My Journey through Sexual Identity (1999). Together with Elly BULKIN she has co-edited the journal of women’s writing Conditions.
