What to do with the Palast?

Four general positions on the future of the Palast der Republik have been put forward with various intensities since reunification: keeping the Palast, rebuilding the old Schloss (the position in political favour in 2002), erecting a new building and some hybrid solution. Attention will now be directed to who has been advocating each particular option, on what grounds, and against whom the argument has been made.
