ABSTRACT
The development of ethnic festivals can sometimes help to raise the profile of local community groups, leading to a greater understanding of and interest in their culture. They can also be highly attractive for tourists, as well as acting as catalysts for urban regeneration. Bradford Mela is a good case in point (Box 8.3).
