ABSTRACT
Meteorological conditions around Iceland have an important bearing on the weather of northwest Europe and the fluctuations of Iceland’s climate are symptomatic of those of a much wider area. The timing of glacial changes in this exceptionally sensitive climatic environment is therefore an essential ingredient of a study of the temporal behaviour of European glaciers.
