ABSTRACT

VAL DUCHESSE is a château on the outskirts of Brussels variously associated with the European Communities and the European Union. It was at Val Duchesse that the Spaak Report (see Paul-Henri Spaak) was drawn up in 1955-56. More recently, in 1985, the château gave its name to the process of social dialogue between the employers represented by the Union of Industrial and Employers’ Confederations of Europe (UNICE), employees represented by the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), and the European Centre of Public Enterprises.
