ABSTRACT

It has been suggested that the best sources of health and medical information on the Internet for both research and clinical practice are the online versions of established medical literature sources: bibliographic databases such as Medline, and electronic journals available in full text online. 1-3 However, the published medical research literature cannot generally be retrieved via generic Web search tools, and even gateways to evaluated sources of health and medical information may include material that has not been peer reviewed prior to appearing on the Web. This chapter focuses on searching the traditional sources of peer reviewed medical literature.
