ABSTRACT
The syntactic and semantic functions of nouns in Finnish are mainly indicated by suffixes, the most important of which are the case endings. Word order can also have syntactic meaning, and other changes can be brought about by variation which could be characterized as syntactic. Other means have little or no syntactic relevance.
