ABSTRACT
This book has attempted to show how the interpretation of Egyptology has evolved and developed through the collective efforts of several generations of Egyptologists. Sometimes, their researches have radically changed existing opinions about a person or historical period (such as the Amarna Period and Akhenaten), or have identified hitherto unrecognised areas of history (such as Petrie's ‘discovery’ of the Predynastic era).
