ABSTRACT

To serve children well, it is important for service providers representing different disciplines and agencies to work from a common understanding about young children and how they learn, and to work together within an inclusive setting. As previously expressed, it is also important for members of an intervention team to work together towards common goals. Common understandings and common goals take on added significance as young children with special needs move from one programme to another. Unified planning and support play crucial roles in helping young children and their families navigate such transitions successfully. This chapter addresses three interrelated topics:

1 a common philosophy and curricular approach; 2 a common programme; 3 working together during times of transitions.
