For Kelly the focus of convenience of his personal construct psychology, however wide its range of convenience might be, was psychotherapy. It is not simply that he was a psychotherapist himself, but that he felt that people struggling with major personal issues would prove a scientifically more rewarding focus for psychology than the navigational problems of the rat.
