ABSTRACT

The intentions of these two contemporary Italian practitioners in seeking a vital role for Commedia in the repertoire of modern theatre have considerable similarities, but their personal style and actual practice are quite distinct. Boso, although formerly an actor, now seems to see his contribution as that of a director of contemporary works of art with Commedia as an inspiration and an influence, Fava as a practitioner of Commedia itself, whether as actor, director, teacher or dramaturge.
