ABSTRACT
One further role, or multi-role, of zoos that should be recognised is that of a place for viewing, meeting, having contact with and being close to animals. Zoos, alongside parks in cities and trees in city streets, and flowers and aquariums in homes, are ways in which man enriches his own environment.
