Anaesthesia for a child with Apert syndrome and a congenital abnormality of the hand

Introduction There are many congenital anomalies of the hand that require surgical correction. They form a spectrum of disease from simple anomalies, e.g. clinodactyly, that require only a single surgical procedure, to complex anomalies, e.g. radial club hand which may require multiple procedures over a prolonged period of time. These anomalies may occur in isolation or as part of a congenital syndrome.
