Individualism would be no more than a name if we had not some physical sphere of action within which we could exercise a kind of sovereignty. When we say that individual property is a sacred thing, we do no more than state in symbolic form a moral axiom that cannot be gainsaid, for the cult of the individual depends absolutely upon it.
