ABSTRACT
THE science of morals and rights should be based on thestudy of moral and juridical facts. These facts consist ofrules of conduct that have received sanction. The problems to be solved in this field of study are :
(1) How these rules were established in the course of time: that is, what were the causes that gave rise to them and the useful ends they serve.
