ABSTRACT
Historically, doctoral supervision has usually been undertaken by a single supervisor or ‘Doktorvater’. But, over the past two decades or so, there has been a move towards co-supervision in the forms of a chief advisor and four or five other members of an advisory committee usual in the United States, or the supervisory team with a main and second supervisor which has become more common elsewhere.
