ABSTRACT
The LSC is concerned primarily with funding post-16 education and training in FE colleges and other providers. The latter include many HEIs, particularly the newer universities and the Colleges of Higher Education undertake a significant amount of FE provision. Consequently they receive funding from the LSC. Of the £4.55 billion of grants received from funding councils by HEIs in England in 2001/02, £71 million (0.6 per cent of total funding) related to the provision of further education (FE) in HEIs.
