ABSTRACT

When numbers are to be included in the prose of the text, numbers less than twenty, round numbers and numbers at the beginning of sentences are spelled out in full. Fractions are also spelled out unless they form part of a larger number. Numbers in sequence are presented as numerals. Decimal fractions between –1 and 1 require a zero before the decimal point. The exceptions to this rule are in referring to chapters, tables, figures or appendices in the present dissertation when the designated numerals are used.
