ABSTRACT

The organizational environment has a more direct impact on teaching and learning in that it affects the running of the course and the day-today quality of the students’ experience. Paradoxically, the student may notice the organization least when it is working best; it is when things go wrong (conflicting information, messages not passed on, confusion over arrangements, delays and general cock-ups) that the organization (or lack of it) becomes visible. Poor organization can affect everything from admissions through materials and teaching to assessment, and many of the background questions are raised in Chapter 3.
