ABSTRACT

You should continue to follow the same steps as in the previous chapters in working through each section (if necessary, refer back to pages 4-5 in the Introduction).

The pattern of sections changes slightly, reflecting the fact that we are now talking about things that have a more indirect relationship with or impact on teaching. There is therefore an additional response box for the ‘Effect on teaching’ (and, by extension, learning). Some of the possible solutions will lie within your power, others may go beyond it. You can still use the COSTAS checklist (see pages 69-70), though you will probably find that the two final headings (Assessment and Students) become less salient, because the impact of management on them is less direct.
