ABSTRACT
For the visiting programme undertaken at Yardleys every pupil and teacher had an identification card. Identification cards were also developed for adult volunteers who joined the project later on.
It is very important for the teacher(s) involved to spend time meeting the elderly in the community This is time-consuming and can sometimes be quite a difficult task, as many elderly people are reluctant to let strangers into their homes. On the visits made around Yardleys an identification card was carried and shown to the elderly. The project was then explained fully and the elderly people gave information about themselves, which proved useful in the allocation of pupils later on.
