ABSTRACT

All areas of study, including citizenship, are monitored, evaluated and reviewed on a regular basis within an established school programme.

1. The management for citizenship education involves allocating and monitoring responsibilities and resources across three distinct related but overlapping communities of the life and work of the school: – learning: the school as a community of learners;

– behaviour: the school as a community of citizens; – civic engagement: the school as a community among other communities

(stakeholders). 2. Several models of management and coordination are offered from current

practice in schools. 3. Management provides an operational framework for the relationship

between curriculum, assessment and evaluation, pedagogy, CPD and community partnerships. It requires, therefore, some form of crossfunctional team or consultation process.
