ABSTRACT
OVERVIEW Octavia Hill had popularised the idea of good housing management and of employing women to do it. From 1912 onwards women who had been trained by Octavia Hill began to gather in small groups and by 1932 these groups had managed to overcome personal rivalries and differences of outlook and formed one society for trained women working in housing management.
