ABSTRACT
Although silent for most of his treatment, Leo was active, playful either in my presence or directly with me, and above all highly communicative with all the nonverbal means at his disposal. He was also intensely related, moving from an initial intense teasing, triumphant, and sometimes challengingly destructive relatedness, to an eventually calmer capacity for being with me where he could play out and voice his wishes and thoughts.
