ABSTRACT
THE principal goddesses discussed in this chapter have several characteristics in common. All are deeply concerned in the life and functions of women; and all have something in common with the great Minoan goddess or goddesses, although not all can be proved to have originated from that fertile source. It is not, therefore, to be wondered at if they show at times a certain resemblance in legends and function to Demeter and her daughter.
